Sour Blueberry Frozen Yogurt in an Ice Cream Maker

Homemade frozen yogurt can be a great substitute to traditional ice cream. It’s lower in calories and fat content, has a wonderful tangy flavor, and keeps well in the freezer for weeks.

If you’ve never made a homemade frozen dessert before, this is an excellent recipe to try out.

Prep Time: 5 min

Cook Time: 1 hr 30 min

Extra: 24 hrs to freeze ice cream maker bowl

1 1/2 cup blueberries
1 lemon
1/3 cup brown sugar

  • Cool 10 minutes and refrigerate up to 1 hour
  • In a separate bowl, mix together yogurt and milk until consistent throughout
  • Combine blueberry syrup and yogurt
  • Shave in the rind of half a lemon and mix
  • Remove ice cream maker bowl from freezer and configure your ice cream maker for use
  • Slowly pour blueberry-yogurt mixture into the ice cream maker, churning for 20 minutes
  • Serve immediately or for a harder consistency, place in freezer for 1 hour or longer
  • Optional: use vanilla yogurt for a sweeter taste
